Our first meeting of the year this week was a really productive one! We had thirteen members in attendance and we re-started the Rotary good news tradition – members can pay $1 to share something good that’s happened in their lives. We will vote at a later date about what to do with the money collected. We also re-started weekly Foundation giving; a total of $38 was collected from different members. You’ll be able to follow our progress in meeting our Foundation goal in this weekly bulletin (see thermometer below).
We had three guests at our meeting this week. Joshua LeRette stopped in to invite Rotarians to donated baked goods to his annual bake sale to benefit the local food pantry. If you’d like to donate, be sure to sign up through our volunteer link below. If you are unable to donate baked goods, but want to support this project, Joshua will accept checks (made out to him) that will be forwarded to the Food Pantry. We also had Dr. AnneMarie Marlier and Jessica Schaaf from the Omaha Business Ethics Alliance who shared a thought-provoking program brought to us by Shawnna.
Next Tuesday (July 16) is our monthly business meeting. In addition to celebrating our July birthdays and Rotaversaries, we will make decisions and vote on items as a club. Every Rotarian deserves to be heard and this is one of the easiest ways to voice your thoughts on items that impact our club directly. Some of our topics next week include voting on our Golden Wheel recipient, coordinating our volunteers for upcoming events, and important announcements about Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) and Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA). Don’t forget, there will be pie!
There are truly many ways for each of you to be involved in the next several weeks and we need ALL of you. Please check the volunteer opportunities below and be sure to sign up wherever you can help.
Respectfully,
Emily H. Martin
