Greetings, Red Oak Rotarians!
A great big THANK YOU to all those who loaned us coolers or were able to help set up, serve, and clean up the sno-cones during National Night Out. I would consider the night a big success; we went through nearly two gallons of syrup and ran out by 7:30.
Next Tuesday (August 13) our District Governor, Tom Kerfoot, will be visiting our club. I hope each of you are able to attend, and we can show him how incredible our club is. One of his main talking points will be Satellite (or Extension) Clubs. Our membership committee has been discussing the idea of starting our own club Extension since last April. Please check out the story in this week's newsletter with more information about Extensions. Bring your questions to ask DG Tom.
The polio/chili cook-off committee met this week. This year's chili cook-off has been scheduled for Friday, Sept. 27 at the Red Oak Fire Station. We are looking for a new name for the chili cook-off. In past, the focus of the chili cook-off was to support ONE of the many community organizations Red Oak has been blessed with. Since Rotary is now the sole recipient of the funds raised, we thought a new name would be best. So, if you have a catchy idea for an event name that encapsulates both the focus of raising funds for polio and chili, we would LOVE to hear it!
Respectfully,
Emily H. Martin
