Greetings, Red Oak Rotarians!
I'm very pleased to welcome our newest member, Eric Rehfeldt, to our club! As of our business meeting on Tuesday, Eric is now a Red Oak Rotarian. Please reach out to him and make him feel welcome!
When I was walking in the parade in Malvern earlier today, I was a little surprised to hear someone call my name. I was even more surprised to see it was our very own Val Zane!! I was able to visit with her for a little bit after the parade. For those of you who don't know, Val was blessed with a donor kidney last Friday. She looks and feels amazing! Her kidney function has gone from 4-5% to 54%. There is a lot of recovery left to go, but she is getting closer to being back to her energetic self. (And, yes, she said I could share this with you.) As she continues to heal, we as her Rotary family will continue to support her.
Our upcoming week is a BUSY one!!
- We have our regularly scheduled club meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 24th (noon at Pizza Ranch). Tim Ellis is in charge of our program speaker.
- Our fall highway clean-up is Wednesday, Sept. 25th. We will meet at Cubby's at 5:15 and start cleaning right at 5:30. It's getting darker earlier now, so we want to start promptly. And, of course, the more people we have, the faster it will go. To sign up, click the link under "Upcoming Events" in this newsletter. So far, we only have five volunteers signed up.
- Our 2nd annual Polio Chili Cook-Off is Friday, Sept. 27th. This is a WONDERFUL opportunity to get involved in a club event that not only raises money for one of our major causes (see the article in this newsletter), but also allows us to interact with many members of the community. We still need volunteers (3:30 - 5:30 or 5:30 -7:30), judges, and chili contestants. Let myself or Liz Goddard know if you know of a judge or chili contestant.
- Also, don't forget we have cans the next two Saturdays at 8:30. Meet at Nishna Productions.
Respectfully,
Emily H. Martin
