Greetings, Red Oak Rotarians!
It's official! Starting in October, we will be offering a secondary meeting time and location. On Tuesday, the club voted to approve a Club Extension. Christopher Allison has volunteered to be the chair of the Extension, and he will be the point of contact for Extension information and activities. We are very excited about the possibilities an Extension Club will offer us, namely membership growth, increased member engagement, and more visibility and impact on our community! Stay tuned as more information becomes available.
Once September begins, we will have cans to take care of again. David Hammer will not be available to help with cans this month; he's been using his truck on Saturdays of our can month to haul the can trailer to Nishna. Thank you to Kaylin for volunteering their truck to help with this! We need others to really pull together and work on cans. The sign up is now available (click the link in the upcoming events list or click here).
Polio Chili Cook-Off is scheduled for Sept. 27 at the Red Oak Fire Station. We need volunteers to help set up, run the event, and to help clean up. You can sign up by clicking here. But, we also need LOTS of chili competitors. Do you know someone with a killer family chili recipe? Does your business host potlucks and have that one person who always brings a delicious chili? Spread the word and encourage them to enter our chili cook-off. It's for a great cause and it's fun! Registration forms will be available at the Nishna Productions office (204 S. Broadway) and at our club meetings. I'm working on possibly setting up an online registration form, as well, for those out-of-town entries.
So many incredible things are starting to happen within our club! If you haven't been to a meeting lately, I encourage you to come again. Reconnect with members you haven't seen in a while and catch up on everything we are doing. We miss you!
Respectfully,
Emily H. Martin
