We are trucking along with our Rotary year and going full-force with many different activities happening seemingly all at once. A great big THANK YOU to all the Rotarians (and their spouses) who volunteered their time on Thursday, July 18 at the Montgomery County Fair Food Booth. Your volunteer time secured the white fair building for another year of our annual Daddy Daughter Dance.
At our business meeting last Tuesday, we voted on this year's recipient for the district's Golden Wheel award. She doesn't know about it yet, so don't spoil the surprise! We will be inviting Tracy Vannausdle to receive this award at the district conference in October. We discussed creating some local club awards to recognize non-Rotarians each year at an annual award presentation. We'd love to hear your input on the idea!
Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) will be taught on August 10 in Omaha. On this day, all three levels are being taught. If you've already taken Phase 1 and 2, this is the time to complete Phase 3 and graduate! If you haven't started RLI yet, this is the time to knock out Phase 1. Not only is the training valuable to understanding the big picture of Rotary, but the relationships you build with members of other clubs renews your energy and fosters new ideas to implement in our club. The club will pay your registration fee to attend.
I will not be at our meeting on July 23. I will, however, be attending the Tampa Rotary meeting and learning all about the upcoming hurricane season (probably not something we'll be terrible worried about in Iowa). In my absence, Carrie will be running the meeting. And she will do a phenomenal job (so be nice! 😉).
There are still many ways for each of you to be involved in the next several weeks and we need ALL of you. Please check the volunteer opportunities below and be sure to sign up wherever you can help. You guys are all amazing! Thank you!
Respectfully,
Emily H. Martin
